Marrick Armstrong

Partner

Marrick Armstrong is a founding partner of Smith Reed & Armstrong and concentrates much of his practice on commercial litigation,  personal injury, employment and intellectual property litigation.

Legal Experience

Marrick has been a licensed lawyer since 2001, and licensed in Texas since 2007. After law school he joined an Am Law 250 rated law firm, where he rose through the ranks from an associate attorney in the firm’s New Orleans office, to a partner in the firm’s Houston office upon moving to Houston. He worked with that firm for 13 years before resigning to begin his own. He is a founding partner of Smith Reed & Armstrong. Marrick’s practice consists of primarily of representing clients in business/corporate matters ranging from contractual disputes, to commercial insurance disputes, business partnership and joint venture dissolutions. He also represents clients on the plaintiff and defense side of personal injury actions and entertainment disputes.

Education

Marrick was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, by parents who moved to Wisconsin from Mississippi in the 1960s. He went onto earn a BBA-Business Law from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 1996. Marrick moved to New Orleans, Louisiana in 1998 and earned his J.D. from the Loyola University School of Law- New Orleans in 2001.

During his time as a lawyer, Marrick earned admission to practice in California, Louisiana and Texas, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States District Court for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the United States District Court for the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas.

Other Interests

Marrick is also the founder of ROM Publishing, a digital e-book publisher. As a publisher, Marrick works with talented writers to edit, develop, publish, market and promote their works of literature.

Marrick is a lover of fine art and culture. He is a membership of and frequents the Museum of Fine Arts- Houston and Asia Society Texas Center.

Marrick was recently invited to and joined the Board of Directors for the non-profit Texas Center for African American Living History. Marrick is an Advisory Board member of the non-profit Inprint Houston.

He resides in Pearland with his wife, Melissa. Melissa returned to higher education after some time in the workforce, and is a 2017 graduate from the University of Houston’s School of Technology, having earned a B.S. in Biotechnology.
